I found this while "googling": (re: Viva la Vida song by Coldplay)
To answer the question "Does it have something to do with Christianty?" Yes of course. Historically speaking this song touches upon the British Empire in which Christianty thrived. The song's message is identical to Jesus's quote “My Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom. If it were, my followers would fight to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36)
The song has reference to the crusades/revolution...it paints the picture of the material world. There are many Biblical references/passages in the song. (such as:)
>>And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt, and pillars of sand<<
I believe this refers to: Matthew 7:24
The Wise and Foolish Builders
24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."
>>Be my mirror, my sword and shield <<
I believe this reference is found all over, especially in Psalms:
Passage Psalm 18:30:
As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
Passage Psalm 17:13:
Rise up, O LORD, confront them, bring them down;
rescue me from the wicked by your sword.
Oh, I could spend all day doing a Bible study on the possible meaning of the lyrics of this song. I think I've decided it's not slamming Christianity so I'm going to allow it to be one of my favorite songs for now.

Wow! The only time I've heard this song is on a iTunes commercial I think. I need to check it out.
